They are the masterminds behind some of Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Delray Beach’s best restaurants. And While we know how these 10 prominent South Florida chefs cook for us, we wanted to know how they spend time in their kitchens at home. so, we sort of invited ourselves over to find out.
A joint venture between Riverside Market, The Native Brewing Company and The Restaurant People is bringing a new brewery to Fort Lauderdale. Tarpon River Brewing will officially open its doors to the public on Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.
Instead of a sign or an awning, the entrance to TRP Taste in Fort Lauderdale will soon feature a refurbished movie marquee hanging overhead.
“It will say, ‘Now tasting’ and list upcoming events with dates,” says Tim Petrillo of the Restaurant People, the Fort Lauderdale culinary outfit that recently launched the concept. “It’s kind of cool.”

Tim Petrillo wanted Rooftop to be more than its view. Its location is prime—in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, surrounded by the city’s skyline—but Petrillo didn’t want to rest on the scenic backdrop. If he were to put up curtains around the outdoor bar, would there still be a line snaking around the corner? “That’s how we approached it,” says Petrillo, co-founder and CEO of The Restaurant People. “When you take the curtains down, [the view] becomes an added benefit.”
